OTL's Engagement Principles set out the guidelines for a mutually beneficial long-term relationship between a prospective land developer and Traditional Owners. They are based on the free, prior and informed consent and expect open and transparent communications and negotiations from all parties.

The Township Lease Consultative Forum is a group of Traditional Owners which is initially nominated by the local land council, who advise the Executive Director of Township Leasing.

Township Leases offer long-term Subleases that give people and businesses secure rights to use land. This helps attract investment, supports home ownership, and encourages local businesses. People with Subleases can use, develop, or sell the land, as long as they follow the rules in the agreement.

Any proposal to access or develop land in a Township Lease community requires a formal application to the Executive Director of Township Leasing.
